The Emergency Relief Program is the Paul Ncharam Foundation’s frontline response for people facing sudden, life-disrupting crises across Nigeria. We move quickly to deliver food, temporary shelter, and urgent assistance to households affected by floods, fire, displacement, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen shocks. Our goal is simple: meet the most pressing needs first, then connect families to the support that helps them stabilise.

Assistance is provided as food, shelter, and essential supplies — or as targeted cash support in naira where it is the fastest way to meet a need.

Eligibility Requirements

Nigerian residents currently facing a sudden, genuine emergency such as flooding, displacement, a medical crisis, or acute hardship Individuals and families who cannot meet urgent basic needs (food, shelter, or emergency care) from their own resources Applicants able to be reached and verified by a member of our team or a trusted community referral Priority is given to the most vulnerable, including children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and female-headed households Open to applicants of any tribe, religion, or background — support is provided strictly on the basis of need

Rolling intake — emergency requests are accepted year-round, with urgent and life-threatening cases reviewed on a priority basis.

Applications are reviewed in the order received, and early, complete applications are prioritised.

  • A valid means of identification (National ID/NIN, voter's card, driver's licence, or international passport) where available

  • A brief description of the emergency, including what happened, when, and the support you need

  • Proof or evidence of the situation where possible (for example photos of flood or fire damage, a hospital bill, or a medical report)

  • A contact phone number and your current location or address for verification and follow-up

  • For medical emergencies, supporting documents from the hospital or treating doctor

  • A reference or confirmation from a community leader, religious leader, or local authority where available
